Governor-elect Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor-elect Kim Driscoll continued their “Team Up Massachusetts” community service tour with a stop at the Family Table Collaborative in South Yarmouth on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.
The event was one of five regional stops to highlight the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s priority to make “Massachusetts more affordable” and to help “families struggling to get by” leading up to their swearing in on Jan. 5.
In partnership with Family Table Collaborative (FTC), Healey and Driscoll packaged and distributed over 500 meals and produce bags.
FTC was founded as a rapid response program to address the immediate needs of families and seniors that struggled with food security due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, they are a social enterprise dedicated to increasing nutritional security by creating sustainable change through the preparation and distribution of freshly prepared meals, partnered with nutritional education.
Through social innovation, creative collaboration with community partners, and the help of an army of dedicated volunteers, FTC addresses the whole cycle of food, reduces waste and increases sustainability, in order to fulfill their mission to create healthier people and communities.
To date, FTC has prepared and distributed more than 110,000 nutritious, delicious meals and put over 25,000 pounds of rescued produce back into the community.
